yesterday, we visited 5 homes, taking them rice, sugar, oil, and toothpaste. these were all houses of kids involved with yesuanaweza. we got to go into their one room mud houses. it goes without saying, but we take so much for granted. in some of the houses, there was one bed, but in others, none. they were dark, with no windows and a piece of wood or scrap metal for a door.
mom, one of the houses we went to was cecelia's. i got to meet her mom, mbika and her grandpa. he's a funny guy.we took pictures with them after we prayed together and he said when we show the photo in the states, everyone will ask "who is that young guy". mbika's prayer request was for a job. she does laundry jobs every once in awhile, but it's not steady work...not to mention, it's hard work and time consuming and only pays about 500 TSH/job which is less than 50 cents.
on thursday, i got to visit the little girl in the burn ward at the hospital again. i'd been thinking about her for a few days, and even though i visited the maternity ward that day, i needed to go check on her. she is the youngest of 4. her mom is a christian, so that was comforting to know that she's been praying too. she seemed a little more coherant and looked at me when i prayed for her. i felt a little more peace this time around, but please keep praying against infection, cause it's a filty mess in there.
today we are going to saturday school again, then to mohammed's for lunch. his wife asma is an amazing cook, so i'm excited to see what she makes. their son ibrahim is the most adorable little guy. he's 18 months and a total flirt. he's got the best little giggle. it's contagious.
well, i'm off to start my day.

OH Please tell Muhammed, Asma, and Ibrahim hi for me! I miss her cooking! Her jipate and egg chop were excellent!
It's good to hear that the little girl is still hanging in there. I will be praying for complete healing.
You are very correct when you say that we take things, especially our homes for granted. Even the poorest of poor here in america have it way better off compared to people there when it comes to houses.
I really appreciate your blogs. You do such a great job of keeping us all up to date and being very descriptive. It is a joy to read each and every one of your entries.
I WAS EXCITED TO SEE YOUR BLOG TODAY BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM YOU FOR A FEW DAYS. DID YOU SEE KATHY MURRELS COMMENT ON YOUR FIRST BLOG. WE WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THE LITTLE GIRL IN THE BURN WARD. I AM GLAD YOU GOT TO MEET CECILIAS FAMILY- THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO MUCH CLOSER TO HER. IS THERE ANY SPECIAL WE CAN DO FOR THE FAMILY FROM HERE? I WISH I COULD BRING THE FAMILY HERE. LORD PLEASE LET US NOT COMPLAIN. HOW DOES THE FAMILY FEED THEM SELVES WITHOUT ANY JOB? DOES THE GRANDFATHER WORK? ARE THE KIDS LOVED AND CARE FOR ??
THERE IS A LARGE FIRE GOING ON IN THE SPOKANE VALLEY ON DISHMAN MICA . FUELED BY THE HIGH WINDS WE HAVE BEEN HAVING. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 3 DAYS NOW BUT THEY ARE MAKING HEADWAY. OTHER WISE GOOD WEATHER. WE WENT TO THE CABIN WITH KELLI AND FAMILY---THAT WAS NICE. THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKE A LITTLE NEWS OF WHAT IS GOING ON AT HOME. ALL OF YOU PLEASE PRAY FOR DAD--REALLY TRYING TO SMILE BUT HAVING A ROUGH TIME. YOU ALL ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. LOVE YOU MUCH, MOM
marisha-
she is an amazing cook! we had beans and rice for lunch. the best i've had yet. then she made an avacado and banana dessert. it was almost like pudding. it was sooo good!
mom-
i didn't see it, but i'll look. i was trying to figure needs out with cecilia's family, but it's hard with the language barrier. i'm not sure if grandpa works or not or how they buy food. they do have some corn growing, so i'm sure they use and possibly sell some of that. mbika takes good care of the kids with very next to nothing. they are notably cleaner that most of the other kids when they get to school. most of the kids just have their heads shaved, but she does cecilia's hair. she had corn rows one day, they little ponytails all over the next, so i know she works hard to take care of them. cecilia's brother is one of the cutest little guys. he takes very good care of her, always helping her and watching out for her, eventhough he's a little guy himself. he has a little rash on his head, that i think i'm going to ask about to see what it is from and if there is anything that can be done.
it looks like we might not make it on safari. our lodging was almost double what we were quoted, so i think safari is the first thing to go. i'm a little bummed, but i know i'll be back and can go another time.
please pray for me. i got sick today. i slept most of the day and am doing a little better, so i think it'll pass. i've had a headache and body aches and been exhausted, so it could just be a bug i picked up from one of the kids.
