so after three LOOONG days of travel, we've finally arrived at umoja lutheran hostel in moshi, tanzania. life is most definitely different here. our hostel is great. we ended up with a communal living situation, our own bathroom, two bedrooms and a little living type area.
on our drive from the airport to moshi, we got to see alot of the area which was pretty neat. i can see already i will have no shortage of pictures to share when i get back. at one point, i was so overwhelmed by the fact that God's promise to me 12yrs. ago was finally coming to life that i got all teary, but was able to hold back...this time.
i have a pretty killer case of jetlag, which has been interesting, but other than that, things are going well thus far. i was awake at about 4:30am sharp, no thanks to the cock fight outside my window and the very loud muslims call to prayer.
we ventured out into town for a bit last night to exchange some of our US dollars to TZ shillings. the exchange right now is about $1 to $1130. not bad. we met a crazy amount of people out on the streets...mostly vendors trying to sell their hand painted art which coincidentally all looked the same. the people of moshi are very friendly and eager to talk to you and help. some of which i'm sure are just looking to cash in, but others genuinely friendly and curious.
today we meet with pastor zachariah to talk over our schedule for our time here, so i'll have a better idea of what is coming in the next few days.
we have internet here at the hostel, and while it's hit and miss on the connection, it looks like i may get to write more than i'd originally thought, so keep checking back! pray for wisdom for lindsey, steve and i as we talk with zachariah and decided which projects our money will help to fund.
till next time...

JAMBO Abbie!!! I am so happy for you guys! I can picture everything you are writing about and I'm so glad you all are getting to experience this. At the same time I am very sad that I cannot be there to share in this season. I'm hoping this blog you have set up will make things better though.
By now I'm sure you have had the experience of being a celebrity as the locals point and look at you in amazement as they say "MUZUNGU!!!"
Live that up, it was hard coming back to the states and realizing people didn't care that much about me...and that I wasn't royalty anymore.
If you meet Mileni Lucian, the little girl I sponsor, please send her my love. Along with the older girls Upendo and Neema (they help out at the church a lot). Oh and of course Pastor and Mama Esther as well! Ok, I'm going to cry so I better go. But please please please write often. I think I'll be your number one fan!
Oh and do they have computers at the hostel? Or how are you getting internet access? This is new to me.
I'm praying for you all!!!
Mungu aku bariki (God Bless you)
I'm waiting and waiting and waiting for the next update. I keep checking. I'm praying for you guys as well! I bet you are having an amazing time and I know God is going to use you mightily!!!!
yay! i just posted another. i told every one you said hi, and they wanted to know why you didn't come. ha!
we are celebrity's as you say. oh man. i take back every bad word i've said about brittney spears. the pressure really is intense.
they do have 5 computers here now. the connection is hit and miss and they tend to conviently shut off for now reason just as you've typed a ridiculously long message, which is awesome, but nevertheless, it's internet! i'll take it!
thanks for your comments. it's exciting to get on here and have mail. yay!
